I've found these lids come in handy when proving bread as you can leave them on the mixer with the 'head' down and then go back later and knead with the dough hook.

Very Handy
I purchased these recently to complement a few other items for my KitchenAid.
As others have mentioned, the cup in the top doesn't seem necessary but not a huge concern.
Great to cover batters etc whilst moving on to the next process.
Very handy for storing the attachments in the bowl and to stop dust getting in.

better shield
I used the cup peice as a guide to cut out and then slit the lid so that I have a better shield for mixing.
Stops flour from flying everywhere as is cheaper than the pouring shield!

Kitchenaid bowl covers
Really handy when you have made something that needs to be stored or just chilled in the fridge, fits really well over the mixer bowl, no need for glad wrap which is better environmentally. I love the kitchen aid accessories they always work so well.

Very Handy!!
These covers are a great addition to the KA Bowls. They are a perfect fit and easy to put on and off. I too am stumped at the cup design, but I'm sure there is a good reason for it. Now i just need another bowl to use both of them!!

Bowl Covers
These are really handy. I don't really understand why they have the cup in the middle and would prefer if they were flat (or if the cup was smaller). It's also odd that they say 'non sealing' - because they seal fine (OK, I wouldn't turn the bowl upside down or anything, but for something like storing the custard overnight before making icecream, it's perfect - no spills so far!) They're also fine in the dishwasher - I like it that they actually say "top shelf dishwasher safe' on them so that kids/partners don't need to be reminded!
