KitchenAid Deluxe Mixer KPM5 Empire Red

After many not-so-subtle hints, I caved and bought the Kitchen Aid Delux Mixer for my mother as a Christmas gift. I was a little worried I'd left my run too late with only 6 days till Christmas but placed my order and held my breath...and then I got the phone call...the courier carring my, and many other orders had caught fire, 3 days before the big day!!! Customer service were wonderfu and apologetic even though it had nothing to do with them, and vowed to speed orders through yet doubted that I'd see my pressie until after Christmas. This was fine, I said. So imagine my surprise when I discovered a safley packaged Empire Red KitchenAid sitting at my door!! My mother got the shock of her life, insisting no hints had been dropped and has proceeded to tell every single person she comes in contact with about how she recieved the best present ever! I don't think there's a day gone by in the week following Christmas day that she hasn't baked something scrumtious and gone on to rave about the brilliance of her new baby. A big thankyou to Kitchenware Direct for out of this world service and for filling our kitchen with more deliciousness than we can possibly eat!

WOW! My family are a huge fan of the KitchenAid - the girls have named it "Big Red" we got the ice cream maker at Christmas time and boy are we having some fun creating some amazing ice creams and sorbets. We have many other attachments it is a must have item, It looks great in our kitchen, it is a talking piece to our visitors. Delivery was free and no hassel a bonus to us. Kitchen Ware Direct you are one of the most reliable internet shopping stores I know... Well done :)

Firstly, the shipping and handling for this purchase was amazingly fast. Item came just as expected, couldn't be happier. As far as the mixer is concerned, it is sitting on my bench and I baking at least once a day, it cuts the time out making pastries, dough, especially pizza dough, this is stuff I've never made before but now not having time is no longer an excuse. The machine works magically, is easy to clean and the current deal with the cookbook is a great deal - there are some really great recipes which includes all the mixer attachment and speed variation recommendations. I have a whole new found love for baking!

This machine has pride of place in my kitchen and it is being put to good use. I make alot of cakes and use to use a spurtel to whisk but this is far better and you have two hands free to juggle everything else that you need to like add, measure and pour. Even made my first cream buns with it the other day. Kneaded them to perfection. Thankyou Kitchenware direct great service, price and delivery excellent.

Just purchased the K5 Deluxe mixer with money we received as wedding gifts. Buying it through Kitchenware Direct was much cheaper than in stores! Its fresh out of the box so i havn't used it yet but its all washed and ready to go... I can't wait! I was planning on buying a new pasta machine last year (an electric one) but im glad i didn't as i have just purchased the pasta attachments to go with my mixer too which will save a heap of space as it's one less appliance in the house. Looking forward to getting the meat grinder and sausage stuffer attachments next!

Who will help me mill the grain? Who will help me make the dough? No-one helped the little red hen - but everyone wanted to help when it was time to eat! Fortunately for me, I have this little red K5 hen in the kitchen helping me. Henny is not only beautiful but is more than just an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. No mess mixing of mince meat (yay for clean hands and the mixture does not stick to your hands when you are rolling it either). Great mixing of all doughs and batters and beautifully whipped cream and perfect egg whites. Best of all very quick! You have more time to make more stuff, clean up sooner or relax longer. The pasta/lasagne roller is fabulous! Great having both hands free to catch the sheet. Love the icecream bowl attachment - great to make 2 litres of icecream instead of 1 or 1.2 litres which is the maximum capacity of most other icecream bowls. All I need is this on my counter (and my Kitchenaid blender for when I need a third pair of hands) and I eliminate so many machines because this does just about everything. It slices, it minces, strains, juices citrus, etc...if only it would make a cup of coffee (hee hee hee). It is also easy to clean due to the large attachments. The large beater/whisk also enables you to get maximum mixture from between its spokes so there is less waste and more mixture to turn into yummy food. This is more than a mixer - the Kitchenaid truly is a kitchen aid and my best friend in the kitchen.

We love our kitchenAid and use it everyday. Not sure what we didi without it. It also looks great in the kitchen.

I recently recieved my new Empire red mixer and have to say I'm delighted with it. Having been fortunate enough to try this mixer on a recent overseas trip I fell in love with it's capabilities. I particularly wanted the stability and extra power of the lift design as I make all my own bread, it takes all the hard work away. I hav'nt found the fixed head to be a problem.Thankyou Kitchenware Direct for your excellent service.

as a mother i do bake a lot. knowing what my kids put in there mouths is important. my husband brought me a sunbeam mixmaster a few years ago while it was a good mixer it did eventually die. so with much reseach i bought a K5 kitchenaid mixer. since it arrived i have been whipping up a storm. fantasic power. I have no problems removing the beater it is just a matter of getting used to it. Once you are i don't think you would miss the tilt back of the other mixers. I must say though if you don't bake a lot then best to stick with the model down from the K5.

Fantastic appliance, So easy to use I cook for 11 elderly residents in a facility I can whip up cakes, pies and all sorts of goodies for the residents.

I brought the K5 based on the recommendation of a local retailer. I am disappointed with one thing - the fixed upper section makes it difficult to use. It is not easy to change the paddle, whisk, or hook. If you have a lot of ingredients in the bowl, it can be difficult to get the paddle in place. It is hard to try and scrape down the sides of the bowl whilst the paddle is still in the bowl. When whisking an instant pudding mix, I find that some of the powdered mix is stuck to the bottom of the bowl, even though I had sprinkled it over the liquid first and had scraped the bowl during mixing (the bowl height has been correctly adjusted).

In hindsight I wish I had of brought the Artisan model with the tilt up head.

The Kitchen Aid mixer is definitely sturdy, heavy duty material and should last a life time.

I bought this great kitchen tool 12 months ago after extensive research and comparison against the Kenwood Chef/Major. We are not huge bakers but wanted a reliable machine that would allow us to easily make a few loaves of bread every week and perhaps a few sweet things every month.

To date it has proven itself to be a solid, reliable performer that outperforms the Kenwood Chef that I have also used during this period. In particular:
a) it uses less energy than the Kenwood (less wattage) but this does not impact performance
b) I find it produces a smoother bread dough than the Kenwood in a shorter period of time
c) it works equally well with small (e.g. 2 egg whites) and large quantities (e.g. 2 big loaves worth of bread dough)
d) it has a good set of accessories that can extend the machine's usefulness in the kitchen - though I must admit that some accessories are more useful than others

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a work horse in the kitchen. I would also recommend using KitchenwareDirect as their service to date has been impeccable!

I have enjoyed using my KitchenAid for the past 10 years. Using it for a variety of things from "Bouche de Noel" at Christmas to friday night pizza dough, I delight in using it. To this extent I am buying one for my daughter who is about to shift out of home, along with a copy of "Cooks Companion" by Stephanie Alexander.

i originally bought my kitchenaide mixer about 20years ago. i was doing a lot of commercial cooking/decorating then. in all those years, the only thing i had to replace was the whisk. my mixer finally karked it 6 months ago. i bought another mixer,because i didn't think i would be doing much cooking now that i'm in my middle sixties. how wrong i was, now that i want another kitchaide mixer, you don't have any till january...OOoooh dear!! santa's let me down.
