When Frederick Wiltshire began making files in 1938 he probably wasn't setting out to create an iconic Australian brand, but that's what happened.

Not long after the operation got off the ground, Wiltshire began making knives, and in 1972 they took the market by storm with their self-sharpening StaySharp knife, which received the Prince Philip Award for Australian Design. In the next decade Wiltshire moved things outside with gardening tools and Wiltshire Bar.B. tools, the most famous of which is their Wiltshire Bar.B. Mate.
