But the smell fades

On arrival our cutting board also smelled with that smell (from previous review). It takes a while to fade but now the board is perfect. We washed it and left it outside for a day or so when the smell was evident. It is over a year old now and has no smell or wear at all. Goes in the dishwasher. Fantastic product. Will buy more when they are back in stock. I won't ever waste my money on another wooden cutting board again.

Smelly

I'm disappointed with this product. Supposed to be a highly regarded product, but it has a distinctive chemical smell, especially when you place a hot item on it, such as toast. It smells like vintage bakelite (Formaldehyde?). Resting the board against another bread board has now duplicated the odour to the other board. I don't know how this could be tolerated in commerical applications, or in the home.
