Each pass through the sturdy groove first draws your knife through a coarse ceramic wheel that reshapes the edge of your knife and then through a fine wheel that hones it, reapplying that razor sharp factory finish with only a few quick swipes. Highly recommended.

I loved this sharpener so much that I bought a second for my Dad for Fathers Day. I have tried steels and stones and this is a far better, easier product to use than those. Brillant and compact - I highly recommend.

Not Suitable for all Knives

Great compact unit makes it easy to return a good edge to your knives. It should be noted, though, that it will not work for a Shun paring knife (and potentially other smaller knives) as the small heel on the blade means that the handle will stop the blade reaching the grinders.

Shun kai electric sharpener you are my hero

This sharpener is execellent. I recently bought this to sharpen my japanese global and shun chef knives. I brang these knives back from the brink of dullness to super paper thin sharpness in around 10-15 light pulls through the kai electric. You will need to make sure that your knives can to go through this sharpener though. The shun kai electric is intended for a 16 degree twin edge blade. So you can destroy some other knives that have single edge and different degree angles, (some european knives)
